This morning was my first Symbolic Lodge inspection of the year. I went to Sevillle to see the inspection of Seville Lodge #74 in the Fellowcraft degree. Seville Lodge is located on the second floor of a commercial building in downtown Seville, Ohio. It is on the corner by the town's only traffic signal. The lodge is a small lodge with 108 members of which 20 were at this morning's inspection. I think most of us would be happy with this percentage of members at a meeting.
The lodge has a group of members that deserve special mention. They have a group of motorcycle riders called "The Widow's Son's" that have had several rides for charity. The results have been $1000 donated to both the lodge and the Ohio Special Olympics. They also donated to District 10 of the Ohio Special Olympics. The have made contributions to several other charities and fund raisesr. They are noticeable with there "Widow's Sons" vest and have received 10 petitions because of this visibility. They have one unique rule. You must either be a Master Mason to join or become one within a year of joining. For those of us who do not ride motorcycle, they have an associates' patch. If you join as an associate you get a patch and are allowed to hang with the "tough guys".
Today's inspection started with a breakfast at 8:00 AM and the degree following at 9:00 AM. Total attendance was 68. Both the opening and degree work were very well done. The SW gave the lecture for the first time and did an outstanding job. The "G" lecture was done in as fine a manner as I can recall seeing in some time. The candidate, who is a result of the Widow's Sons, received an outstanding degree.
The lodge closed at approximately 10:45 PM.
A great start to what I hope is a good day.
'til the next time.
