Most Excellent Companion Robert M. Huntzinger's Funeral, 6.4.11

Julia and I did attend the funeral of MEC Huntzinger in Middletown on Saturday, 6.4.   The funeral was in Middletown which is about 218 miles southwest of Medina.

We arrived at approximately 10:15 AM and met Mrs.  Huntzinger.   This is one very fine Lady who is still proud of having been Ohio's First Lady of Capitular Masonry in 1977-1978.    She was quite pleased that I had came and especially that I had brought the First Lady.

All of the service were done at Middletown Presbyterian Church. The Masonic funeral service was done by Lincoln Lodge #693 in Middletown.  The Lodge should be proud of the service.   The bulk of it was given by one Brother and was done from memory.  He did an exceptional job.

After the Masonic Service Julia and I headed home.  I would like to note that Most Excellent Companions William M. Berry, Jerry C. Crawford and Terry Myers were in attendance as was Right Excellent Companion Keith O'Dell.

I close this post with the following

Wreathe the mourning badge around---
Once again that funeral sound!
From his friends and from his home,
Bear him Brothers, to the tomb.

While they journey weeping, slow,
Silent, thoughtful let us go;
Silent—life to him is sealed;
Thoughtful—death’s to him revealed

How his life-path has been trod,
Brothers, we will leave to God;
Friendship’s mantle, trusting faith,
Lends a fragrance, even to death.

Here, admidst the things that sleep,
Lay him down to—rest is deep;
Death has triumphed—his loving hands
Can not raise him from his bands.

But the Emblems that we shower,
Tell us there’s a mightier Power;
O’er the strength of death and hell,\
JUDAH’S LION SHALL PREVAIL!

Dust to dust, the dark decree—
Soul to God, the soul is free!
Leave him with the lowly lain—
Brother, we shall meet again!
