Oak Harbor Chapter No. 162 is in the town of Oak Harbor about 95 miles west of Medina. I was accompanied on this 1 1/2 hour journey by REC Bill Young.
Oak Harbor Chapter got a new home about 2 years ago. The Lodge had been located downtown upstairs in a commercial building. It is now just at the edge of a residential area just about 8 blocks from where it originally was located. A Brother that is very active with the Boy Scouts wanted a place for the scouts to meet and approached the Lodge to see if they would be interested in joining in building a building that could be used for boy the scouts and Masonry. From that came the new building.
The Lodge is rather small but is quite sufficient for the size of the Masonic bodies meeting in the building. Because the scouts use the dinning area, it is the largest room in the building.
I am sorry I did not get more pictures but we arrived just a little later than I expected to and the Chapter was getting ready for the inspection in the Most Excellent Master degree.
This is the home Chapter of MEC Wayne Dill and when REC Young and I arrived we told MEC Dill that with the weather that was being expected we would sure appreciated a quick degree.
Now Companions, I don't think I have ever witnessed a Most Excellent Master Degree that had no lost time. Well I sure can not say that now!! The degree started at 8:00 PM and concluded at 9:45 PM. Not only did they do a fast degree but they did a superb Most Excellent Master degree. MEC Dill portrayed Jeshua in a fine manner and all the other Companions did their parts in like manner.
We have another new Most Excellent Master.
REC Young and I got on the road home about 9:30 and thankfully the weather stayed good until we got home. Twelve hours later we had 6 inches of snow and ice on the ground!!
Dry roads again, a great degree and warm fellowship again.
"til the next time.
