19th District Grand High Priest's Recepiton

Saturday evening, April 30th, Julia and I headed for Youngstown and the Grand High Priest reception in the 19th District at the Youngstown Masonic Temple.  As you know this is about 72 miles east of Medina and take about 1 1/4 hours to get to.

Prior to the reception I was given the news that the High Priest of Youngstown Chapter No. 93, Excellent Companion Paul L. McGraw, had died on Tuesday, 4/26.    EC McGraw was not feeling well at his inspection a few weeks ago but was still attending  Masonic function.  In fact he participated in the Valley of Youngstown's memorial service last Thursday.  Apparently family members could not contact him during the weekend so they went to check on him and found him passed out and unresponsive.   He was later diagnosed with congestive heart failure and succumbed to it on Tuesday.  The Grand Chapter offers our condolences to his family and friends.

The GHP's reception was held in the first floor dinning room and the meal was prepared by the O.E.S. Chapter.   We had salad, mashed potatoes, green beans and roast beef.  Dessert was vanilla ice cream and cookies.  The meal was quite good and I again thank the O.E.S. for a fine meal..

This meeting was also the District meeting for installation of officers and giving of awards.   I got drafted as the Installing Officer so the installation was extremely short.   The normal Grand Chapter awards were given out by REC Hyde.

Julia was presented with a monetary donation for the Western Reserve Masonic Community and I received a very nice gift at the same time.

My talk again centered on the business of the Grand Chapter and what is going on with R.A.R.A. and General Grand Chapter.    We talked about items that have been brought up as I travel around the state and to the Grand Sessions of other states.    We did a question and answer session just prior to my shutting up and setting down.

Julia and I had a nice dry ride to Youngstown, good food and great fellowship.  Again, that is all anybody can ask for.

"til the next time.
