On Thursday, November 11th, REC Bill Young, Julia and I had the pleasure to go to Shelby Chapter 178 for the presentation of a 60-year pin to Excellent Companion Robert E. Ellis.
Before the Chapter opened we treated to a fine Masonic meal of swiss steak, mashed potatoes and green beans prepared by the Shelby Chapter of O.E.S. I wish to thank the O.E.S. Ladies for the meal.
This was the Chapter's stated meeting night and since it is DDGHP Porter's home Chapter the guest inspector REC Blankenhorn was there to observe the RA opening. EC Estepp and his officers did a fine job of both opening and closing and appear ready for their inspection.
The Chapter was called to recess and the Ladies brought in for the pin presentation to EC Ellis. This was my first 60-year pin presentation as GHP. PGHPs told me that this was one of the more pleasurable duties of a GHP. They sure were right about that.
This is the second honor that EC Ellis has received from Grand Chapter this year. At Grand session he was awarded the Earl C. Gifford Distinguished Service Award.
Congratulation to EC Ellis for 60 years of service.
